Your First Hypnosis Session

Hypnosis has become a popular therapy. A big improvement on what it was thought of in the past.  Many people still have the concept that a hypnosis session involves a gold watch, a couch and a therapist with a skinny black mustache.  None of those are a reality of a modern hypnosis session.

Here’s what happens

Hypnosis can assist in a variety of areas in a person’s life.  A hypnosis session is not about giving the hypnotherapist complete control of a person.  In fact, hypnosis can not make a person do anything against their will.  Hypnosis is used to help a person get in touch with their true goals.  Athletes will use a hypnosis session in order to completely focus on an upcoming sporting event.  This helps the athlete connect their goal, their mind and their body; so that the goal is possible.

A hypnosis session can leave a person feeling very alert and energetic.  A session is used to get in touch with the subconscious mind, and to assist in getting rid of negative thoughts and emotions. As a result of that, at the end of a hypnosis session, many feel up-lifted and ready to move on.

Goals can be achieved through a hypnosis session.  The goal needs to be discussed with a hypnotherapist.  Some common goals are quitting smoking, loosing weight, overcoming phobias and many more alternatives are offered through a hypnosis session.  Usually, these goals will take a few sessions in order to fully integrate new behaviors.

A hypnosis session can last anywhere from an hour to two hours.  During the session, the hypnotherapist will use different means to help achieve the level of relaxation required for a successful hypnosis session.  They may use something as traditional as a pendulum to watch, or just by using words can help delve into the subconscious mind.  While clearing out negative behaviors, positive ones will be assigned.  Suggestions about exercise may be made, or the suggestion that a cigarette no longer tastes good may be used. These suggestions help the patient work on their goal.

Costs for a hypnosis session vary from center to center.  States also, may have regulations in regards to hypnotherapy.  It is important to find out what your state requires, and find a clinic that follows those laws.

A hypnosis session can assist people in working towards their goals and make a difference in their lives.

Self Hypnosis: achieve whatever you want in your life

Self hypnosis is a way of programming yourself to achieve the goals you want in your life. You can also rid yourself of bad habits like over-eating, and smoking.

Self hypnosis is the practice of putting yourself into a trance- like state in order to focus on certain goals of life changes. Many people, however, are skeptical of self hypnosis and claim it doesn’t work. And they may be onto something, as how many people do you know have used self hypnosis and actually changed? Probably not many. Yet there are thousands of self hypnosis programs out there. There are seminars, some that charge up to five hundred dollars or more, there are CD and DVD programs and then there are those internet sites that charge to help you self hypnotize yourself.

Self hypnosis works

Self hypnosis does, in fact, work, it’s just that most people don’t use it properly. In order for self hypnosis to work, it has to be practiced regularly. You can’t just listen to the CDs or watch the DVDs or log onto the internet sites one time and expect to be instantly changed. If it were that easy, the pharmaceutical companies who prescribe anti-depressants and other mood changing drugs, as well as therapists, would all be out of business. If it were that easy to change yourself, everyone would change themselves.

Unfortunately, it’s not that easy. It’s recommended that whenever you start a self hypnosis program, that you practice it every day at the same time for at least thirty days. That’s the minimum time requirement if you expect to see any results from your self hypnosis. Yet, even the thirty day requirement seems too good to be true. Many will ask, “You mean, all I have to do is listen to the CDs or watch the DVDs for thirty days and I’ll be cured or changed for the better? It’s really that easy?” However, even thirty days is sometimes too much to ask when it comes to your subconscious.

When you try to change yourself, your mind will sometimes try to work against you. You will begin to talk yourself out of listening to the CDs or watching the DVDs or from logging onto the internet sites. The reason your subconscious mind talks you out of bettering yourself is because the old you is comfortable. Change is very difficult for a lot of people. Many people dream of being rich, for instance, but not many people will never be rich because, deep down, they fear success. It’s just your mind’s way of preventing change.

What you have to do, when using self hypnosis, is you have to force yourself to set aside a little time each day, preferably at the same time, to listen to your hypnosis program. Even if your mind tries to talk you out of it, ignore that inner voice and turn on the program. If, after thirty days, you don’t see a difference, then at least you gave it your best shot. But, chances are, if you use the program as per its instructions for the allotted time, you will see results.
