Hypnosis scripts: what are they?

Hypnosis scripts are texts that someone can read to you to hypnotize you, or you can read to someone else, or even yourself, if you want to give yourself suggestions.

You can write the scripts yourself if you wish; they’re easy to create. Indeed the scripts you create for yourself may be the best ones to use for self-hypnosis, because you know what you want to achieve with hypnosis.

The three parts of a hypnosis script

A hypnosis script consists of three parts: the induction, suggestions, and a return to normal waking consciousness.

The induction relaxes the subject, and prepares him to receive the suggestions. If you’re working with someone who is new to hypnosis, you may want to include a longer induction. If you’re experienced in self-hypnosis and are writing a script for yourself, the induction can be very short.

The suggestion phase of the script is the part where you plant the suggestions to which the person will respond later. You can add an anchor here - some bodily movement which will help the person to achieve a mind state. Planting anchors is useful if your aim is to help someone to overcome an addiction like smoking.

Finally, the return phase of the script wraps up the session, returns the subject to waking consciousness, and includes a suggestion that the subjection will feel great.

Using a Hypnosis Script to guide hypnosis

A hypnosis script is very useful in hypnosis. Although most professionals don’t use them, they’re useful for self-hynosis.

If you’re interested in hypnosis, you should know that while many people still think of hypnosis as a sleep induced state in which the patient is controlled by the hypnotist, it is rather a deep meditative state in which the patient is guided by a hypnotist that follows a hypnosis script that leads from an undesirable behavior to an improved one or helps to resolve painful ailments some physical and others emotional.

The patient never truly loses control over their own actions; rather their mind is given positive directions to modify an identified problem.  There isn’t any magic; the patient is in control during the entire session.

Hypnosis scripts provide a general guideline that the hypnotists use for a specific situation or issue that the patient is seeking assistance with at the time of the visit.  While most professional hypnotists do not follow the script exactly as it is written, each script provides an informational guide and outline to lead the hypnotist through the specific situation.  Many hypnotherapists can and do write their own scripts but these can be time consuming; using a standard outline and inserting a client specific focus provides quality client care without having the extended workload of writing individualized scripts.

Hypnosis script can also be used for self hypnosis if a client is interested in using self hypnosis practices to resolve a personal issue or conquer an unwanted habit.  Many people choose to utilize the hypnosis scripts written for weight reduction and smoking cessation programs.  There are a wide variety of hypnosis scripts available for free on the internet.  Downloading one of these scripts and then reading the script into a personal recording device will provide a self hypnosis format using the hypnosis script to guide the session.  It is the repeated use of this recording that will encourage the behavior modification or enhancement that is being sought through the hypnosis script.

Often times, hypnosis script is most successful when used in association with a professional visit to a hypnotist.  One a client has experienced the state of hypnosis, it is much easier for them to understand and achieve the trance-like state of hypnosis under their own guidance with the hypnosis script.
