“Hypnosis induction” sounds complication. However it’s simply involves you (or the person undergoing hypnosis) becoming completely physically relaxed, and following a single train of thought. The hypnotherapist guides you, so there’s nothing you need to do, you simply allow it to happen.

Induction methods include visualization and arm-levitation methods and many others. Each hypnotherapist has his or her own preferred method.

Hypnosis is always quite a pleasant state to be in, because of the relaxation of induction. For many people, it’s the first time they’ve relaxed in years. If you’re practicing self-hypnosis, you may want to sit up while you do it, because you can become so relaxed that you fall asleep if you lie down.

A hypnotherapy session involved three phases: the induction, the suggestion phase, and finally the return to normal waking consciousness.

For example, if you’re undergoing hypnosis to lose weight, the induction might consist of several minutes of your hypnotherapist leading you through an induction of relaxing all the various parts of your body, and visualizing a scene of a beach, and your total relaxation in this particular scene.

The induction is over as soon as the hypnotherapist is confident that you’re completely relaxed, and open to suggestions.
