Can Hypnosis Help With Anxiety?

Since March of 2020, anxiety is a growing epidemic, and wait times for appointments with traditional talk therapists are longer than ever. So, what resources are available for people seeking relief from anxiety?

Hypnosis is a technique that has been used to help alleviate anxiety(and many other issues)  for many people. Hypnosis is often described as  “a state of relaxation and heightened suggestibility that can be induced by a trained professional, often referred to as a hypnotist”, and truly, it is so much more. 

During hypnosis, the hypnotist may suggest positive changes in thought patterns or behavior to the person experiencing anxiety. This can include reducing anxiety-provoking thoughts, promoting relaxation, and increasing self-confidence.
Hypnosis can also help to address the underlying causes of anxiety, such as past traumas or negative experiences, by allowing the individual to access and process their subconscious thoughts and feelings. 

Additionally, hypnosis can provide a safe and supportive environment for people with anxiety to explore their thoughts and emotions. By doing so, they can develop coping mechanisms and strategies to manage their anxiety more effectively.
It is important to note that for very serious mental health issues, hypnosis is not a replacement for other forms of  treatment, such as therapy or medication. It can, however, be a helpful complement to these treatments and can provide an additional tool for managing anxiety, or as a stand alone intervention for people who are struggling with issues that don’t require more aggressive therapies such as psychiatric medication or behavioral therapy.
